Percutaneous spine biopsy can be performed either on an inpatient or outpatient basis. The patient must not eat or drink for a minimum of 8 hours prior to the procedure. The following laboratory parameters are assessed at our institution: hematocrit, hemoglobin, platelet count, prothrombin time (PT), partial thromboplastin time (PTT), international normalized ratio (INR), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), and creati-nine.
