In Chapters 4 to 17, hypogonadism resulting from various etiologies was described. In this chapter, we discuss the criteria for embarking on androgen replacement, the benefits and potential adverse effects of androgen replacement, and the current and future treatment options. There has been a wealth of information on androgen replacement in hypogonadal men in recent years (1-4). This arose from the development and marketing of new testosterone preparations for hypogonadal men and age-related androgen deficiency in older men.
