The effectiveness of treatment aimed at tumor eradication is defined in terms of long-term tumor control, survival, and quality of life. Although pituitary adenoma tumor control is well documented, there is limited information on survival and little data on quality of life with treatment toxicity used as a surrogate endpoint. The primary endpoint in patients with secreting tumors is the normalization of elevated hormones. There is a need for additional survival and quality-of-life/toxicity data.
